Job Description:

The UK JV Team at Air bp is responsible for managing bp’s operational and commercial interests across 8 on-airfield joint ventures (JVs) and 10 UK airfields where bp holds a lease or concession. The team also oversees contracts that secure access to aviation fuel supply at other UK airports.

This role supports the UK JV Team Leader in delivering the overall UK JV strategy, with a strong focus on the financial and operational management of bp’s on-airfield capabilities. It includes day-to-day oversight of a key JV and ongoing engagement with cross-functional stakeholders, including operations, technical, commercial, legal, finance, and procurement teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Contract & Operational Site Management:

  • Support the Contract Accountable Manager (CAM) in delivering fuel services at bp’s 10 UK solus sites via the North Air (NA) Solus contract (valued at ~£11 million per annum).
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for North Air, managing the day-to-day contract delivery within delegated authority.
  • Administer the NA contract, ensuring sound governance and robust financial tracking.
  • Oversee NA infrastructure projects, ensuring compliance with cost, schedule, quality, and HSSE (Health, Safety, Security & Environment) standards.
  • Participate in incident reviews, promote lessons learned, and liaise with the Air bp HSSE team where necessary.
  • Provide operational support during crisis management events, engaging with NA, airport authorities, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conduct safety walk rounds during site visits, raising observations with the NA Site Manager and appointed directors.
  • Identify and implement opportunities to enhance safety, increase efficiency, and drive cost improvements.

Financial & Administrative Oversight for Solus Sites:

  • Ensure timely payment of all airport-related fees (leases, throughput, business rates, insurance, etc.).
  • Support procurement processes, including supplier onboarding, due diligence checks (CDD), Ariba setup, PO creation, and WBS code generation for capital projects.
  • Maintain the fixed asset register and manage throughput agreements with third-party suppliers.
  • Contribute to internal planning cycles, supporting the development of capex and opex forecasts for UK solus sites and JVs.

Joint Venture Management – Manchester Receipt Facility (MRF):

  • Represent bp as a shareholder participant in the unincorporated MRF JV, ensuring governance and leadership through participation in board and operational meetings.
  • Ensure the JV meets all legal and compliance requirements and adheres to industry standards.
  • Maintain effective commercial arrangements and oversee service delivery.
  • Monitor and analyse performance KPIs, finding opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Support safe delivery of infrastructure projects within cost, quality, and safety standards.
  • Manage bp’s compliance with internal JV governance requirements, including risk assessments and exposure management plans.
  • Maintain close communication with bp’s shareholder representative, ensuring visibility of all pertinent issues.

Requirements to Succeed:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a business, finance, or engineering field.
  • Experience in a commercial or financial role.
  • Proven experience managing third-party relationships (e.g., suppliers, customers, JV partners).
  • Demonstrated experience in contractor and contract management.
  • Strong track record of working in cross-functional teams, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
  • Contract and contractor management
  • Financial planning and performance tracking
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
  • Risk assessment and management
  • HSSE leadership and safety mindset
  • Problem-solving and decision-making ability
  • Ability to simplify processes and deliver timely resolutions

Experience (Desirable):

  • Familiarity with bp’s investment governance processes.
  • Experience establishing and maintaining strong HSSE cultures in operational settings.
  • Knowledge of bp’s procurement systems (e.g., Ariba).

Please be advised: This is a 12-month fixed-term contract, part-time, for 3 days per week.
