Legal Counsel – Family Office - Common Law Qualified

Our client, based in Egypt, is seeking Legal Counsel to join their team. The position, newly created, is located in Cairo and focuses on the operations of the Family Office and the Family Office Principals. Given the focus of the Principals and areas of business, it is important to identify a Common-law qualified lawyer for this position, ideally from the UK


Scope of Work

  • You will encompass a broad range of responsibilities tailored to the unique needs of the Family Office, requiring a blend of technical legal expertise and strategic alignment with business-centric objectives.
  • The primary role will involve providing comprehensive legal advice on private client matters, including reputation management through proactive monitoring of public-facing communications, and mitigation strategies for potential risks.
  • IP rights related to authoring of business publications and speeches (e.g., copyright protection, licensing agreements, and clearance of third-party content)
  • Litigation advice.
  • You will also provide legal input for philanthropic initiatives, ensuring compliance with charitable regulations, structuring tax-efficient donation frameworks, and advising on governance models for family-led foundations or other similar programs.


Key Responsibilities

  • Will include maintaining expertise in AML, sanctions, privilege, and data protection, ensuring adherence to evolving regulatory landscapes and implementing safeguards against reputational or financial risks. The role requires workload management across diverse tasks, from transactional documentation (e.g., NDAs, SPAs) and intra-family entity governance to ad hoc queries on employment law, tax and assets structuring.
  • Collaboration with internal stakeholders—including external lawyers, investment teams and accountants —will be essential to integrate legal guidance into wealth preservation strategies, business planning, and governance frameworks.


Requirements

  • Common law qualification is required specifically E&W, Australia or South Africa.
  • Broad Commercial Legal experience
  • Willingness to expand the scope of responsibilities.
  • Willingness to relocate to Cairo.
