About the Role


As Assistant General Counsel, you will lead a team of lawyers and work closely with senior stakeholders across the organisation. You’ll provide legal support across a broad spectrum of commercial and regulatory matters, helping to shape legal strategy and drive sustainable growth.


Responsibilities


  • Deliver expert legal advice across commercial contracts, outsourcing, procurement, and regulatory compliance.
  • Support major contract negotiations and tender processes across multiple business segments.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing legal team, fostering collaboration and professional development.
  • Act as Deputy to the General Counsel, contributing to legal strategy and departmental leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with anti-bribery, corruption, and data protection regulations.
  • Drive innovation in legal operations and support the delivery of training and internal policies.
  • Oversee legal department budgeting and implement efficient systems and processes.

Qualifications


  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales (or equivalent) with 10+ years’ PQE.
  • Experience gained in top-tier private practice and/or in-house within a large, fast-paced organisation.
  • Expertise in commercial contracts, public procurement, TUPE, GDPR, and technology services agreements.
  • Experience with joint ventures, M&A, and complex legal structures.
  • Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills.


Required Skills

Preferred Skills


  • Company secretarial experience.
  • Proficiency in at least one additional European language.
