Diagnostic Surveyor – Housing Repairs & Maintenance
London-based | Hybrid/Site-based | Full-time | Contract or Permanent
Are you a skilled building surveyor with a passion for making a real difference in housing quality? We're looking for an experienced Diagnostic Surveyor to join a dynamic Repairs & Maintenance team, where you'll be on the frontline of improving homes and resolving complex property issues for residents.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Conduct property inspections to identify defects and determine repair responsibilities.
- Accurately diagnose issues such as damp, condensation, and structural faults.
- Draft detailed technical reports and present recommendations to internal repair panels.
- Manage subsidence and structural failure cases in collaboration with external specialists.
- Oversee insurance claims (fire, flood, collision) and support residents through the process.
- Approve and monitor works on-site, ensuring high standards of quality and compliance.
- Lead on tenant/leaseholder alteration assessments and provide expert guidance.
- Maintain thorough digital records and liaise effectively with internal teams and external contractors.
What You’ll Bring:
- HND/C or BSc in Building Studies (or equivalent experience in building surveying).
- Strong diagnostic skills across various housing-related issues and construction types.
- Proven experience in contract administration, variations, and project reporting.
- Sound knowledge of Building Regulations, construction law, and industry standards.
- Confident communicator—able to write technical reports and present findings to varied audiences.
- Skilled in using surveying tools, scheduling software, and reporting platforms.

- Must be able to obtain Enhanced DBS clearance.
- Subject to random Drug and Alcohol Testing in line with policy.
