Job Title: Hire Controller

Location: Waltham Abbey, Essex

Working Hours: Monday - Friday, 07:00 - 17:30

Salary: Up to £28,000 per annum (depending on experience)

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

We are a well-established rental equipment company based in Waltham Abbey, supplying plant and powered access equipment to customers across construction, maintenance, and industrial sectors. With a strong reputation for service and reliability, we are looking for a motivated and organised Hire Controller to join our busy and friendly team.

Role Overview;

As a Hire Controller, you'll be the key point of contact for customers looking to hire equipment. From handling initial enquiries to processing orders and coordinating deliveries, you'll ensure that each customer receives a professional, efficient, and friendly service. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, is confident on the phone, and has a good eye for detail. Experience in the hire or construction industry is desirable, but not essential if you bring the right attitude and customer focus.

Key Responsibilities;

• Respond promptly to hire enquiries via phone, email, and in person
• Prepare hire quotations and process orders accurately using internal systems
• Coordinate equipment availability, deliveries, collections, and breakdowns
• Communicate effectively with transport and workshop teams
• Maintain strong relationships with customers and provide regular updates
• Identify upselling opportunities and advise on suitable equipment options
• Ensure all hire contracts and documentation are accurate and compliant
• Support the wider team in achieving operational efficiency and service excellence

What We're Looking For;

• Previous experience in a similar customer service or hire desk role
• Experience within the hire, construction, or logistics industry is an advantage
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to multitask and manage time effectively in a busy environment
• Confident using IT systems and Microsoft Office
• A team player with a proactive, can-do attitude
• Knowledge of plant or access equipment is beneficial
