Energy Officer – Local Authority Opportunity

Rate: £350/day (Umbrella, Inside IR35)

Start Date: ASAP

Duration: 3 months (with strong potential for extension)

Location: Flexible hybrid working – mostly remote (Midlands)

Are you passionate about driving sustainability and energy efficiency? We’re working with a major local authority to recruit an Energy Officer who will play a vital role in delivering a smart, cost-effective energy strategy that supports their journey towards Net Zero.

What you’ll be doing:

• Ensuring accurate utility billing and robust contract management
• Managing meter data, validating energy usage, and improving reporting
• Supporting financial reconciliations, recharges, and energy debt recovery
• Contributing to decarbonisation, compliance, and procurement strategies
• Drafting compelling business cases and funding bids for green initiatives

What we’re looking for:

• Proven experience in energy or carbon management within large organisations
• Strong Excel skills – pivot tables, lookups, and data cleansing are second nature to you
• Confident in handling recharges, off-contract usage, and debt recovery
• Knowledge of energy procurement processes and compliance frameworks
• A collaborative, detail-oriented professional with excellent communication skills
