Remote Role (x2 Visits per year to UK office) | Up to £75,000 per annum base

Our client is a well established software company delivering critical intelligence and data analysis tools to global organisations across defence, law enforcement, and national security sectors.

As part of their growth, they’re hiring a senior software engineer to help shape the frontend of one of their flagship applications. This role combines hands-on React development with the leadership of a small, skilled team of engineers.

You'll work in a collaborative, cross-functional environment focused on building responsive, data-rich interfaces that support real-world investigative work.

What You’ll Do:

  • Build Responsive Frontends: Develop new UI features and components using React, TypeScript, and modern JavaScript.
  • Lead a Small Team: Line manage 2–3 engineers, providing mentorship, feedback, and guidance to help them grow.
  • Collaborate Cross-Functionally: Work closely with product managers, UX designers, and backend engineers to bring complex workflows to life.
  • Integrate APIs Effectively: Deliver scalable and reliable client-side functionality powered by RESTful and GraphQL APIs.
  • Promote Quality & Efficiency: Drive testing practices, performance optimisation, and development standards across the frontend team.
  • Shape the Development Process: Contribute to tooling, CI/CD workflows, and frontend architecture using technologies like GitHub, CircleCI, and AWS.

What They’re Looking For:

  • Strong hands-on experience with React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
  • Proven ability to lead or mentor developers in a commercial environment
  • Solid understanding of integrating APIs using REST or GraphQL
  • Experience working with component libraries, design systems, or scalable frontend frameworks
  • Familiarity with testing practices and modern CI/CD pipelines
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills

Bonus if you've:

  • Experience with MobX or other state management tools
  • Knowledge of AWS, GitHub Actions, or CircleCI
  • Exposure to data visualisation or geospatial mapping tools
  • Understanding of backend environments (Python, Java) for context
  • Experience working in secure, high-trust software environments

Why Join?

  • Fully remote (UK-based) with flexible working
  • Opportunity to lead meaningful software used by public sector and defence clients
  • Supportive, low-ego engineering culture
  • Greenfield products, long-term roadmap, and clear team ownership
  • Backed by a global tech group with a strong track record of sustainable growth

This is a great opportunity for a Senior frontend engineer ready to step into or continue growing in a line management role, while working on impactful, complex applications at the intersection of data and intelligence.
