Freelance Opportunity - Buyer (Temporary Contract) | Northampton Office

Position: Buyer (Freelance / Temporary)
Location: Northampton (Office-based)
Contract Type: Freelance / Temporary (initial 16-week contract)
Working Hours: 9:00 AM - 5:30 PM (1-hour lunch break)
Rate: Competitive day rate (dependent on experience)Start Date: ASAP

A leading residential developer is seeking a skilled Buyer to provide temporary support to their Buying Team in Northampton. This freelance opportunity has arisen due to recent system changes, requiring additional resources to maintain operational continuity.

Role Overview:

Working closely with the Senior and Chief Buyer, you'll be responsible for ensuring timely procurement and delivery of materials to construction sites, and supporting the build process of high-quality homes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Process material orders and ensure accuracy
• Schedule deliveries to site in line with build requirements
• Communicate with suppliers via phone and email
• Respond to site queries regarding deliveries and orders
• Support tender processes including analysis and bulk order creation
• Assist other Buyers with workload as needed
• Maintain and update pricing on bulk orders

✅ Ideal Candidate Profile:

• Previous experience in a Buying role within the housebuilding sector (preferred)
• Strong general IT skills
• Excellent communication and customer service skills
• Team-oriented and adaptable to changing priorities
• Able to hit the ground running with minimal supervision
