Job description

Quantity Surveyor

Midlands-based | Hybrid – largely home-based with 1–2 days a week in the office

An opportunity has arisen for a Quantity Surveyor to join a consultancy team delivering complex infrastructure projects across the Midlands. You’ll play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered on budget, to programme, and in line with contractual obligations, while building strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.

Role Overview

You’ll be responsible for delivering cost management services on technically challenging projects, applying sound commercial judgement and ensuring value for money. This is a hands-on role, working closely with senior colleagues while developing your own technical expertise and responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare cost plans, estimates, and tender documentation.
  • Support procurement processes and contract administration.
  • Apply NEC contract knowledge (particularly Options A, C, and E) to project delivery.
  • Monitor financial performance, produce reports, and forecast costs.
  • Identify and manage commercial risks.
  • Maintain effective communication with clients, contractors, and internal teams.

Candidate Profile

  • Experience in a cost consultancy environment, ideally within infrastructure.
  • Working knowledge of NEC contracts and commercial best practice.
  • Degree-qualified in Quantity Surveying or related discipline; working towards MRICS is desirable.
  • Strong organisational skills, attention to detail, and ability to work collaboratively.

What’s on offer

You’ll be joining a consultancy with a strong pipeline of work and a collaborative culture. The role offers a genuinely flexible, hybrid working model - largely home-based, with just 1 - 2 days a week in the office for collaboration and client meetings. With exposure to technically challenging projects and opportunities for professional growth, this is an excellent step for a Quantity Surveyor looking to progress their expertise in infrastructure.
