As part of our business expansion, we now require a Stores/Procurement Coordinator to work at our Glasgow site.

Job Purpose:

To manage inventory, coordinate procurement activities, and ensure timely availability of materials and components required for production and maintenance operations, with a focus on efficiency, accuracy, and cost-effectiveness.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, inspect, and record incoming goods and materials.
  • Maintain accurate stock levels and update inventory systems.
  • Issue parts and materials to production and engineering teams as required.
  • Source and procure materials, tools, and equipment in line with company policies.
  • Liaise with suppliers to ensure timely delivery and resolve any discrepancies.
  • Monitor stock usage and forecast future requirements.
  • Conduct regular stock audits and cycle counts.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental standards in the stores area.
  • Maintain organised and secure storage areas.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives in procurement and inventory management.

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Experience in stores, warehousing, or procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment.
  • Knowledge of inventory management systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar).
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.
  • Basic understanding of procurement processes and supplier management.
  • Forklift licence or manual handling training (desirable).
  • Familiarity with rail industry components or standards (advantageous).

Desirable:

  • NVQ or equivalent qualification in Supply Chain, Procurement, or Logistics.
  • Experience working in a regulated industry such as rail, aerospace, or automotive.
  • Understanding of lean inventory practices and cost control.
