SEN Support Worker - School (Complex Needs & Autism)


Looking to transfer your skills from social care or support work into education? This could be the perfect opportunity!


We’re working with a Special Educational Needs School in Chester that supports children with autism, learning disabilities, communication difficulties, and complex care needs. They’re looking for dedicated, full-time SEN Support Staff to join their team this September.


This is an incredibly rewarding role that would suit individuals from adult or child social care, residential care, support work, or mental health services. School experience is welcomed but not essential, what matters most is your ability to engage, care, and communicate with compassion.


What You’ll Be Doing:


  • Supporting students 1:1 and in small groups with severe autism and disabilities
  • Assisting with communication, sensory activities, and personal care (where needed)
  • Helping students access vocational and life skills learning
  • Supporting emotional regulation and promoting independence
  • Working closely with a multidisciplinary team including therapists and tutors


Requirements:


  • Previous experience in social care, support work, nursing, residential support, or adult SEN settings
  • A calm, caring and resilient approach
  • Comfortable working with complex and sometimes challenging behaviours
  • A child AND adult Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply for one)
  • Full-time availability during school hours, Monday to Friday
