Job description

Walker Group provides advanced high-precision manufacturing services from centres of excellence located in the UK and Poland. Due to ongoing demand, we have an exciting opportunity to join our team in Glasgow as a CNC / Manual Grinder.


As CNC / Manual Grinder, you will be responsible for setting up and operating CNC surface and cylindrical grinding machines. There may also be opportunities to support spark & wire erosion processes, carrying out precision EDM machining operations.


CNC / Manual Grinder Key Responsibilities:


  • Oversee Machinery set-up and operate machines
  • Loading materials and unloading finished products
  • Adjust machine settings as required
  • Follow technical drawings working to customer tolerances
  • Carefully follow procedures and safety guidelines. Including company procedures, operating standards, and process documentation
  • Maintain an accurate log of production and equipment problems, adjustments, and repairs. Machine inspections for mechanical or safety issues
  • Ensure machines are well stocked with tooling and material to ensure limited downtime
  • Safety focus to ensure themselves and others are safe around operational machinery
  • Flexibility to support production requirements during busier periods


CNC / Manual Grinder Skills & Behaviours:


  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing high-quality work
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to follow instructions


CNC / Manual Grinder Qualifications & Experience:


  • Time served Engineer
  • Experience in CNC / Manual Grinding on both surface and cylindrical grinding machines
  • Ability to read technical drawings
  • Experience of working to high quality standards on precision components
  • Knowledge of safety and manufacturing regulations and procedures
  • Experience in Spark Erosion & Wire Erosion – highly desirable
