In house Counsel - Professional Indemnity

Location: London

I am working with a forward-thinking international law firm that is seeking to recruit a Professional Indemnity Solicitor to join its well-established Risk and Compliance team in London. This is a permanent opportunity, ideal for a qualified solicitor with strong experience within claims and professional negligence who is looking for an exciting new challenge.

The role reports into the Head of Professional Liability, who oversees the Firm’s claims, complaints, and insurance coverage across both professional indemnity and non-PI risks.

Key Responsibilities:

• Support the Head of Professional Liability in managing and reporting legal claims
• Investigate and draft responses to client complaints
• Handle straightforward claims directly; assist with instructing external counsel on more complex matters
• Monitor complaint logs and manage related deadlines
• Liaise with the Legal Ombudsman as required
• Assist with insurance notifications and renewal processes
• Provide assistance on contentious matters involving the Firm, including supplier disputes

Requirements:

• Qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years’ PQE in civil or commercial litigation
• Experience in professional negligence, particularly claims against solicitors, is highly desirable
• Strong written and investigative skills, with the ability to manage sensitive issues discreetly and effectively
• Available to start at short notice
