The Digital Content & Storytelling Specialist will be responsible for producing and managing high-quality content that communicates our work, impact, and insights in a clear, engaging, and human way across web, social media, blogs, and other digital platforms. They will bridge the gap between data science and digital communication, effectively showcasing Smart Data Foundry’s data and products to our target audiences.


Content Creation & Storytelling

  • Produce clear, engaging, and insightful content that translates complex data and insights into accessible narratives
  • Develop blog posts, articles, whitepapers, reports, and case studies in collaboration with data and subject matter experts
  • Position Smart Data Foundry as an industry leader through the creation of compelling thought-leadership content
  • Craft compelling copy for social media, newsletters, and marketing campaigns.
  • Create visually engaging digital assets (e.g., infographics, video, social content) using tools like Canva


Content Distribution

  • Plan, schedule, and publish content across digital channels, including the website, blog, LinkedIn, Bluesky and email newsletters
  • Work alongside the wider Marketing team to identify and deliver on content opportunities (e.g., sponsored content, PR, guest-blogs)
  • Utilise marketing automation tools (HubSpot) to deliver targeted omnichannel campaigns
  • Ensure content is tailored for each platform and optimised for engagement
  • Develop and implement A/B testing strategies to test different messaging, content formats, and distribution channels to maximise performance and ROI
  • Monitor, analyse, and report on content performance


Brand & Message Consistency

  • Maintain a consistent brand voice, tone, and visual identity across all digital content
  • Act as a content quality gatekeeper, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and relevance


Collaboration & Internal Communication

  • Work closely with data science, engagement, and product teams to extract key insights and shape them into engaging stories
  • Coordinate with design, comms, and marketing colleagues to align content with broader campaign goals


Content Strategy & Planning

  • Support the development and execution of a content strategy that aligns with Smart Data Foundry’s goals and audience needs
  • Contribute to content calendars, campaign timelines, and channel strategies


Audience Engagement & Growth

  • Monitor digital trends and audience behaviour to refine content strategy and increase reach and engagement
  • Explore and test new content formats (e.g., video snippets, carousels, interactive graphics) to enhance storytelling impact

SEO & Accessibility

  • Apply SEO best practices to written content for improved discoverability
  • Ensure all digital content meets basic accessibility standards (e.g., alt text, headings, readability)


Essential Skills

  • Proven experience in content creation, storytelling, or digital marketing (preferably within a tech or data-driven environment)
  • Strong writing and editorial skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics.
  • Confidence in interpreting and communicating data in narrative formats
  • An understanding of the value of analytics and data science in industry and economic and social analysis
  • Good understanding of target markets; including financial services, public sector, NGOs, local and national government
  • Experience managing social media channels and growing digital audiences.
  • Experience optimising content for SEO
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects with attention to detail
  • Basic design or video editing skills
  • Proficiency with digital content tools such as Canva, HubSpot and CMS systems
  • Familiarity with data visualisation tools (e.g., Flourish, Tableau) or infographics
  • Confident and experienced at building strong business relationships, both with internal and external stakeholders
  • Excellent communication skills and strong verbal reasoning
  • An ability to work on multiple projects, prioritising and managing stakeholder expectations
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity and react quickly in an evolving and fast paced environment
  • Ability to work autonomously, under pressure and with conflicting and changing priorities
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Personable approach with ability to develop positive working relationships at all levels within an organisation
  • Self-motivated and proactive
