Job description
As a Medical Scientific Liaison (MSL) in Rare Nephrology, you will act as a trusted scientific expert, engaging with healthcare professionals across the UK and Ireland. In this field-based, non-promotional role, you'll play a vital part in driving scientific exchange, supporting medical education, and shaping medical strategy through meaningful insight gathering.
You will have a direct impact on improving patient outcomes in rare kidney diseases by building strong relationships with KOLs, supporting clinical projects, and aligning with cross-functional teams — all while upholding the highest ethical and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Act as the primary field-based scientific expert in rare nephrology, engaging external stakeholders with up-to-date scientific and clinical information.
- Build and maintain long-term, trusted relationships with KOLs, scientific leaders, and key medical stakeholders across the UK and Ireland (approx. 75% of activities will be external-facing).
- Provide tailored medical education and scientific support to HCPs and institutions.
- Gather and communicate real-world insights from clinical practice to inform internal strategies.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with medical, regulatory, market access, and commercial teams to ensure medical alignment with wider business goals.
- Contribute to phase III/IV studies, post-authorisation safety studies, and investigator-initiated research, working closely with the Senior Medical Advisor.
- Support the organisation’s presence at congresses, advisory boards, and other scientific events.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
- Degree in a relevant scientific field (PhD, PharmD, or MSc preferred).
- Proven experience as a Medical Science Liaison in the UK, preferably within nephrology or rare diseases.
- Solid knowledge of UK and Ireland healthcare systems, ABPI Code of Practice, and relevant compliance frameworks.
- Strong scientific communication skills, with the ability to tailor complex information for varied audiences.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships with KOLs and clinical experts.
- Self-motivated, organised, and able to manage priorities independently in a fast-paced, field-based role.
