Job description

Assistant Quantity Surveyor

Location: Yorkshire (Hybrid)

Employment Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £35,000 – £40,000 DOE + Annual Bonus

We’re working in partnership with a leading construction and maintenance contractor to recruit an Assistant Quantity Surveyor for their growing team in Yorkshire. This is an excellent opportunity to contribute to essential planned maintenance projects within occupied social housing properties, delivering real value to local communities.

This hybrid role requires travel across Yorkshire and surrounding areas — therefore, a full UK driving licence is essential.

The Role

As Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you’ll support the commercial delivery of multiple refurbishment and maintenance projects. Reporting into the Senior QS and Commercial Manager, you’ll play a key role in ensuring commercial success by managing costs, supporting subcontractor processes, and providing accurate reporting. On smaller projects, you may act as Commercial Lead, offering the chance to build leadership experience.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting all commercial, financial, and contractual aspects of assigned projects
  • Assisting with cost control, valuations, and reporting
  • Managing subcontractor accounts and payment processes
  • Preparing and maintaining Excel-based cost reports and documentation
  • Handling general commercial administration and supporting the wider commercial team

About You

We’re looking for someone who is proactive, detail-oriented, and eager to develop. You should bring:

  • Previous experience in a commercial role on refurbishment or maintenance projects
  • Experience working with subcontractors, including processing payments
  • Strong Excel skills and the ability to manage project data accurately
  • Ideally, experience in social housing, though this is not essential
  • A flexible, adaptable mindset and the ability to manage your own workload
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to meet tight deadlines

Why Join?

You’ll be part of a modern, forward-thinking organisation that values innovation, collaboration, and the contribution of every team member. This is a chance to grow your career in a supportive environment while working on meaningful projects that positively impact local communities.
