Principal Designer in Woking

Job description

An established architectural practice based in Woking is seeking an experienced Principal Designer to join their growing team. This is a unique opportunity to lead the design delivery of large-scale residential schemes, some comprising up to 1,000 units, across all project stages.

You will be managing a small team of talented architectural staff, ensuring the delivery of high-quality drawing packages while also maintaining strong client relationships and involvement in technical output.

Key Responsibilities:

• Oversee the Principal Designer duties across multiple volume residential developments
• Manage and mentor a team of 4–5 skilled technicians and architects
• Liaise directly with residential developer clients and coordinate project requirements
• Produce and review technical drawings and documentation
• Ensure design risk is managed in compliance with CDM regulations

Ideal Candidate:

• Proven experience as a Principal Designer or Senior Architectural professional on large-scale residential projects
• Strong team leadership and client-facing skills
• In-depth knowledge of the design and construction process from planning to delivery
• Familiarity with UK Building Regulations and CDM duties
• Proficiency in AutoCAD essential; Revit or other BIM tools desirable
