As the Principal Protein Scientist, you will play a crucial role in driving the development and optimisation of cutting-edge bioconjugation processes.
Key Responsibilities of the Principal Protein Scientist:
- Provide technical expertise and support for manufacturing activities related to processes developed or transferred into the company
- Responsible for project deliverables, ensuring they are aligned with agreed objectives and timelines
- Lead a small development team across multiple projects, mentoring scientists and managing day-to-day operations
- Improve and challenge quality systems, striving for continuous improvements in processes and procedures
- Support and guide first-time manufacturing operations, troubleshooting scale-up challenges
Qualifications and Skills Required:
- Educated to degree level in a relevant discipline such as Chemistry or Biochemistry
- Proven expertise in protein modification and conjugation chemistry techniques, as well as protein purification
- Experience of working in a cGMP environment and knowledge of regulatory requirements
- Proficiency in process robustness and optimisation studies, as well as product characterisation of the final product
- Experience providing technical support and expertise
- Excellent analytical and data interpretation skills, with the ability to present and report conclusions and recommendations
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive working relationships with internal colleagues and external clients
- A track record of planning and delivering successful development work programmes
