Location: Near Evesham, Worcestershire

Salary: Competitive, based on experience

The Role

We seek a hands-on, motivated Ecologist to join a well-established consultancy team, working a remote first role. The successful candidate will carry out diverse ecological field surveys, prepare technical reports, contribute expertise to multi-disciplinary projects, and ensure work meets statutory requirements and the latest industry standards.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake ecological field surveys (habitat assessments, protected species, site appraisals)
  • Analyse data and produce clear, high-quality technical reports, maps, and graphics
  • Advise clients and project teams on ecological impacts, mitigation, and biodiversity net gain
  • Engage with clients, statutory bodies, and wider project stakeholders to communicate findings
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety and best practice on site and in reporting
  • Support the delivery of concurrent projects, meeting deadlines and maintaining high standards


Essential Skills & Experience

  • Degree in ecology, environmental science, or a closely related subject
  • Experience preparing UKHAB reports and conducting UK ecological surveys
  • Excellent communication and report writing skills
  • Collaborative approach, strong analytical ability, attention to detail
  • Up-to-date knowledge of UK and European wildlife legislation


Desirable

  • Chartered body membership (e.g. CIEEM) or working towards it
  • Protected species survey licences
  • Familiarity with GIS and digital mapping
  • Experience supporting planning applications, ES chapters, and biodiversity net gain
