Corporate Energy Associate – London (5+ PQE, Counsel Level Considered)


A highly regarded international law firm’s London office is seeking an experienced corporate energy associate to join its market-leading team.


The group advises a broad spectrum of clients across the power, renewables and infrastructure sectors, regularly acting for sponsors, developers, utilities, institutional investors, and lenders on high-value and cross-border transactions.


The Role

  • Advising on mergers & acquisitions, joint ventures, and strategic investments in both renewable and conventional power projects.
  • Supporting project development and financing transactions, often involving complex multi-jurisdictional structures.
  • Working closely with project finance colleagues on matters that combine corporate and financing elements.
  • Acting as lead associate on transactions, managing client relationships, supervising juniors, and working directly with partners on strategic mandates.


The Team

  • Comprises a balanced mix of senior partners, experienced counsel, and high-calibre associates.
  • Recognised for a collaborative and pragmatic culture, with a strong record of integrating corporate lawyers into cross-practice energy teams.
  • Routinely acknowledged by independent legal directories for both transactional excellence and sector expertise in renewable energy and infrastructure.


Matters

  • Advising on the acquisition of a portfolio of offshore wind projects in Europe by a major international energy investor.
  • Acting for a consortium on the sale of a stake in a solar platform to a sovereign wealth fund.
  • Advising a global energy developer on a joint venture for battery storage projects across the UK.
  • Supporting an institutional investor on the acquisition and financing of a pipeline of onshore wind assets in the US and UK.


Candidate Profile

  • 5+ years’ PQE (England & Wales or equivalent) with significant corporate/M&A experience in the energy or infrastructure sectors.
  • Strong grounding in cross-border transactions; exposure to project finance elements advantageous but not essential.
  • Confident in managing complex transactions, working directly with clients, and mentoring junior team members.
