About Navys

At Navys, we are building the most advanced funds lawyer, ever.

Navys is transforming the fund formation process by combining deep legal expertise with AI. This isn’t another chatbot or document summarizer: we are creating the Legal Operating System for funds.

Navys fuses internal legal precision and external regulatory insight into a living system that learns, reasons, and scales with fund professionals.

We are seeking an ambitious Legal Associate to join our team on a full-time basis. This is a unique chance to work alongside experienced private funds lawyers and innovators in a tech-forward environment.

Navys is not just a better tool. It is a different model of how legal software should be built. You will be working on a product that completely reshapes the legal industry. As a Legal Associate, you will play a pivotal part in developing our legal datasets and ensuring the quality of the legal content that powers Navys. You will play a crucial role in training our models, validating legal outputs, and developing the frameworks that make our Legal Operating System truly intelligent.

What you’ll own (first 12 months)

  • Build Legal Datasets: Assist in building and curating comprehensive legal datasets for the Navys platform. You will gather, organise, and input the legal information that feeds our AI tools, helping transform complex fund documents into structured data.
  • Legal Research & Analysis: Regularly engage with legal materials related to investment funds and private equity funds (e.g. Fund formation documents, limited partnership agreements, regulatory guidelines). Analyse and summarise key provisions and insights to support our platform’s knowledge base.
  • Data Review & Quality Assurance: Work closely with senior funds lawyers to review, verify, and validate legal data and documents. Ensure accuracy and consistency in how legal terms and information are captured, maintaining high data quality standards.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay up-to-date with relevant legal developments in private capital. Be willing to dive into new topics and quickly get up to speed, ensuring the data you help prepare remains current and relevant.
  • Collaboration: Collaborate with our engineering and product teams to refine data collection processes and tools. Provide feedback and insights that help improve Navys’s legal data management and AI outputs.

Must-have technical foundations

  • Law degree (LLB/GDL/JD) with at least 1 year of experience in funds but experience with corporate/M&A or financial services regulation with a focus on Private Equity would also be considered.
  • Strong understanding of fund formation processes, including limited partnership agreements, side letters, and regulatory filings across various jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to work with structured data and understand how legal processes can be systematized.
  • Excellent research and analytical abilities. Capable of reading and understanding complex legal documents, spotting key details and inconsistencies. Meticulous attention to detail.
  • Professional, personable and pro-active, with a desire to work in a fast-paced, dynamic start-up environment.
  • Demonstrated interest in legal technology and innovation. Comfortable using digital tools and excited about how AI can augment legal work.
  • Strong communication and collaboration abilities.

Nice-to-have extras

  • Previous experience at a leading law firm (Magic Circle, US elite, or top-tier funds boutique).
  • Direct experience in private funds or investment management legal practice.
  • Experience with regulatory technology (RegTech) or legal automation platforms.
  • Familiarity with AI/ML concepts and natural language processing applications in legal contexts.
  • Coding or data science skills, any experience with programming, databases, or data analysis.

You’ll thrive here if

  • You are talented, focused and aligned with our mission – we are building a complex product with innovative technology, accordingly we are looking for driven and dynamic candidates who can rise to the challenge.
  • You are a strong communicator who gets their point across clearly, and isn't afraid to speak up when things need addressing.
  • You are independent, flexible and prepared to take on responsibility early on.
  • You are prepared to be accountable for and proud of the work you do and your contributions to the team – everyone has a role to play, none less important than the other.
  • You have a genuine interest in how technology can transform legal practice and are excited about building the future of legal services.

What we offer
