Role: Early Years Apprenticeship Skills Coach & Trainer

Salary: £29,400 – £33,600 + Annual Bonus + Full Benefits Package

Your Role as a Skills Coach:

As an Early Years Apprenticeship Skills Coach, you will deliver tailored coaching, support, and training to apprentices, ensuring they meet the knowledge, skills, and behaviours required for successful completion of their qualifications.


Key Duties and Responsibilities:

Apprenticeship Delivery & Support

  • Deliver high-quality teaching, learning and assessment to Early Years apprentices from Level 2 to Level 5.
  • Provide 1-1 and group coaching sessions, both remotely and face-to-face.
  • Embed sector-specific knowledge, Functional Skills (English & Maths), and wider personal development themes into sessions.
  • Create and adapt schemes of work, session plans, and learning materials to meet learners' individual needs.
  • Monitor learner progress against key milestones, ensuring timely achievement of gateway and EPA.


Assessment & Quality Assurance

  • Observe and assess learners in their workplace, gathering evidence for apprenticeship standards.
  • Use e-portfolio systems to maintain accurate, timely, and compliant records of learner progress and outcomes.
  • Conduct formal reviews every 8–12 weeks with learners and their employers.
  • Support learners with portfolio development and preparation for End-Point Assessment (EPA).


Learner Engagement & Support

  • Motivate and inspire learners to achieve their full potential through encouragement, praise, and constructive feedback.
  • Identify additional learning needs and adapt support plans accordingly.
  • Deliver monthly sector-specific webinars to enhance learner knowledge and engagement.
  • Maintain regular communication with learners, offering guidance, pastoral support, and clear progression pathways.


Employer Engagement & Stakeholder Liaison

  • Build strong relationships with employers, acting as a key point of contact and ensuring alignment between training and job role.
  • Provide regular updates to employers on learner progress, performance, and areas for development.
  • Offer advice and guidance to employers regarding apprenticeship standards and workplace training requirements.


Compliance & Safeguarding

  • Ensure all learning activity is delivered in accordance with Ofsted, ESFA and Awarding Body requirements.
  • Adhere to safeguarding, Prevent, and Health & Safety procedures and escalate concerns appropriately.
  • Take part in standardisation and CPD activities to maintain knowledge of best practices and regulatory changes.


What We’re Looking For:


✅A relevant Early Years qualification at Level 3 or above

✅Assessor qualification (CAVA/TAQA) – or willingness to work towards

✅A Level 3 Teaching qualification (AET/PTLLS) – highly desirable

✅Experience delivering and assessing Early Years apprenticeships up to Level 5

✅Solid occupational background in Early Years / Childcare at supervisory level or above

✅Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel across the Cambridge region
