Head of Motor Operations – 12 month FTC . Financial Services ( Cardiff )


A leading UK financial services provider is seeking an experienced Head of Motor Operations to take strategic ownership of its Motor Pay-outs, Underwriting, and Telephony teams. This is a senior leadership role where you’ll drive operational performance, deliver exceptional customer outcomes, and ensure compliance with all regulatory and business standards.


The Role

As Head of Motor Operations, you will:

  • Lead and inspire multi-site teams to deliver operational excellence across Motor Pay-outs, Underwriting, and Telephony.
  • Monitor and manage key operational metrics, using insights to support performance improvement and business planning.
  • Oversee workforce planning, leadership development, and succession strategies.
  • Shape customer journeys that deliver exceptional experiences and meet FCA regulatory requirements.
  • Embed training, competency, and performance frameworks that support both quality and efficiency.
  • Lead process optimisation and technology enhancements to drive continuous improvement.
  • Build and mentor a high-performing leadership team with a focus on inclusion and collaboration.
  • Partner with Risk and Compliance to ensure strong governance and regulatory adherence.
  • Play a key role in strategic business initiatives, aligning operations with wider organisational goals.


About You

We’re looking for someone with:

  • Senior leadership experience in multi-site operations, ideally within motor finance or consumer lending.
  • Strong knowledge of pay-outs, underwriting, and customer contact operations.
  • In-depth understanding of FCA requirements relevant to lending and customer operations.
  • Proven success in leading operational change and delivering efficiency gains.
  • Experience implementing quality assurance, training, and performance frameworks.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at all levels.
  • Commercial acumen with strong data interpretation and decision-making ability.
  • A passion for developing people and building inclusive, high-performing teams.
