Are you a passionate and experienced leader with a deep commitment to supporting children and young people with Special Educational Needs? We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Headteacher to lead our exceptional SEN school in Wigan into its next chapter.


About the School

The school is a nurturing and inclusive setting that provides specialist education for children and young people with a range of complex needs, including autism, communication difficulties, and social, emotional and mental health needs.


The Role

As Headteacher, you will provide strategic leadership, inspire your staff team, and ensure the highest standards of teaching, care, and safeguarding. Working closely with the governing body and wider stakeholders, you will drive continuous improvement and champion inclusive education.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead with vision, integrity and compassion, setting the strategic direction of the school.
  • Ensure outstanding outcomes for all pupils through a personalised and inclusive approach.
  • Promote a strong safeguarding culture and uphold the highest standards of care.
  • Support and develop staff to achieve their full potential through coaching and performance management.
  • Foster strong partnerships with families, external agencies, and the local community.


What We're Looking For

  • Proven leadership experience in a special school or SEN setting
  • A clear understanding of the needs of pupils with SEND, including autism and SEMH.
  • A collaborative and emotionally intelligent leader with excellent communication skills.
  • A commitment to high-quality, inclusive education and pupil wellbeing.
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and ideally NPQH (or willingness to work towards it).
