Job description
We are seeking a highly experienced Head of Legal to lead The ideal candidate will possess a robust understanding of the telecoms regulatory landscape, commercial contracts, and technology law, combined with outstanding leadership skills to manage and develop a high-performing legal team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the telecoms legal practice, delivering expert advice on regulatory compliance, licensing, spectrum management, competition law, data protection, and commercial transactions.
- Provide strategic legal counsel to telecom clients and internal stakeholders on industry-specific challenges and opportunities.
- Manage and mentor a diverse team of telecoms lawyers and legal professionals, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous development.
- Oversee recruitment, training, performance reviews, and career progression within the telecoms legal team.
- Drive innovation and efficiency in legal processes and knowledge management specific to the telecoms sector.
- Represent the firm and clients in high-stakes negotiations, regulatory proceedings, and dispute resolution related to telecoms matters.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant telecoms regulations, industry codes, and ethical standards.
Qualifications & Experience:
- Qualified solicitor or barrister with substantial experience in telecoms law at a top-tier law firm or in-house telecoms legal team.
- Deep knowledge of telecoms regulation, including licensing, spectrum, competition law, data protection, and technology agreements.
- Proven leadership and people management experience, with a track record of building, coaching, and retaining top legal talent.
- Strong commercial mindset with the ability to align legal strategy with business goals in a dynamic sector.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to operate under pressure and manage multiple complex matters simultaneously.
- Commitment to fostering diversity, equity, and inclusion within the team and wider firm.
