Associate – Contentious Construction

I’m working with a leading national law firm that is looking for an Associate to join its specialist Contentious Construction team in Birmingham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work on high-profile, high-value disputes both in the UK and internationally, across sectors such as construction, infrastructure, energy, utilities, defence, and life sciences.


You’ll be joining a team that regularly handles complex litigation in the High Court, as well as domestic and international arbitration. They’ve acted on some of the most high-profile disputes in recent years, including major airport expansions, stadium redevelopments, offshore wind projects, and landmark Building Safety Act cases.


The role will involve:


  • Advising developers, contractors, funders, public sector clients, and major corporates
  • Handling disputes involving delay, disruption, defects, and professional negligence
  • Working across adjudication, litigation, arbitration, and alternative dispute resolution
  • Contributing to a collaborative and supportive team culture


What they’re looking for:


  • Qualified solicitor (1 PQE+) with experience in contentious construction or commercial disputes
  • Strong drafting, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Pragmatic, commercially minded approach to advising clients
  • Building Safety Act experience is desirable
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
