Job description
Key Responsibilities
- Product Specifications
- Create and review product specification requirements.
- Develop clear and simple specifications that can be easily understood by production staff and managers.
- Review and maintain customer specification manuals and ensure signed specifications are kept up to date.
- Packaging and Artwork
- Review and approve packaging details and product artwork.
- Work closely with product development teams to ensure designs meet both legal requirements and project needs.
- Ensure all labels and packaging comply with legislation across relevant markets.
- Standard Operating Procedures
- Develop procedures for artwork creation, outlining the required content for all artwork and promotional material.
- Ensure artwork is appropriate for every market where products are sold.
- Labelling Compliance
- Maintain a strong understanding of labelling regulations and food legislation across all sales markets.
- Communicate complex regulatory requirements in a clear, accessible way for colleagues.
- Stay informed of policy updates and upcoming legislative changes.
- Project Management
- Oversee and manage specification-related projects, ensuring they are prioritised and delivered on time.
- Technical Support
- Act as a point of contact for colleagues, visitors, and auditors regarding packaging, product evaluation, and food standards.
- Provide accurate, clear advice on technical and quality-related queries.
- Product Evaluation
- Assess products for shelf life, nutritional content, and overall compliance with requirements.
- Provide technical advice to support decision-making.
- New Product Development
- Collaborate with product development teams to ensure new and promotional products meet technical and regulatory standards before launch.
- Reporting & Analysis
- Compile technical reports, generate accurate statistics, and perform data analysis.
- Identify and investigate variances, providing recommendations where necessary.
- Data Management
- Develop and maintain technical databases and spreadsheets to support reporting and compliance.
- Health & Safety
- Report any breaches of safety procedures to management.
- Actively participate in health and safety campaigns, ensuring personal and colleague safety at all times.
Person Specification
Experience:
- Minimum of 1 year in a manufacturing environment.
- Knowledge of baking processes (advantageous).
- Competent in computer systems and adaptable to new software.
- Confident in HACCP principles.
Qualifications:
- Educated to GCSE level or equivalent.
- Strong written and spoken English.
- High level of numerical ability.
- Degree in Food Science, Nutrition, or related science subject (advantageous).

- Hardworking, honest, and dedicated.
- Motivated, enthusiastic, and willing to go the extra mile.
- Able to work independently and remain highly organised.
