The Opportunity
We are seeking a highly skilled and visionary Head of Department: Property and Affairs to lead and develop a nationally recognised practice area. This is a senior leadership role, offering the chance to shape strategy, build high-performing teams, and deliver exceptional outcomes for clients who rely on expert guidance in managing their property and financial affairs.
The successful candidate will combine technical excellence with commercial acumen and a passion for driving innovation and efficiency. You will take full ownership of the department, providing both strategic direction and hands-on leadership to ensure best-in-class service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide strategic leadership for the Property and Affairs department, setting clear direction and driving sustainable growth.
- Act as professional deputy where required, overseeing complex client financial affairs, property, and welfare matters.
- Ensure compliance with OPG, Court of Protection, and SRA standards, embedding robust governance and controls.
- Build and mentor a talented team, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and continuous development.
- Strengthen and expand client relationships, acting as a trusted adviser to deputies, families, and external stakeholders.
- Introduce and embed efficient systems and processes to enhance client experience and operational effectiveness.
- Work closely with the wider senior leadership team to align departmental performance with overall business objectives.
- Champion innovation and best practice across the department, ensuring the service remains market-leading.
About You
- Qualified solicitor or legal professional with extensive experience in Court of Protection – Property and Affairs.
- Demonstrable track record of leadership within a legal or professional services environment.
- In-depth knowledge of OPG and Court of Protection processes, with the ability to act as a professional deputy.
- Strong commercial awareness, able to balance client service excellence with operational and financial performance.
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
- A proactive, strategic thinker with the ability to deliver results and inspire others.
