Underwriter – Income Protection

What you’ll do:

• Assess the risk of Income Protection applications, making fair and consistent decisions in line with underwriting philosophy.
• Underwrite and review existing contracts, applying substandard terms, loadings, and exclusions where appropriate.
• Contribute to the wider development of underwriting philosophy and strategic decision-making.
• Collaborate with marketing, distribution, and claims teams to grow expertise and deliver excellent outcomes.

What we’re looking for:

• Essential: Experience in medically underwriting life or income protection applications.
• Excellent communication skills to engage confidently with members, advisers, and medical professionals.
• Strong judgement, attention to detail, and a methodical approach.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a smaller, supportive team where your voice is heard.
• Confidence using Microsoft Office.
