About the Role


We are seeking a highly motivated Associate Quantity Surveyor to join a leading Construction Cost and Project Management Consultancy in Birmingham. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in delivering large-scale industrial projects on behalf of commercial developers, supporting both pre- and post-contract activities.


This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced QS who enjoys working in a client-facing capacity, leading project delivery, and mentoring junior staff, whilst helping to grow and strengthen the consultancy’s industrial portfolio.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead cost management services across multiple industrial and commercial projects from inception to completion.
  • Deliver pre- and post-contract services including feasibility studies, cost planning, tender documentation, and contract administration.
  • Manage procurement strategies, tender analysis, and contractor negotiations.
  • Oversee financial reporting, cash flow forecasting, valuations, change management, and final account settlements.
  • Provide strategic cost advice to commercial developer clients, ensuring projects are delivered on budget and to the highest standard.
  • Act as the main client interface, building and maintaining long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Support business development by contributing to bids, proposals, and networking.
  • Mentor and manage junior members of the QS team, supporting their professional development (including APC support).


Key Requirements

  • MRICS qualified (Chartered Quantity Surveyor) with strong cost management consultancy experience.
  • Proven track record working on large-scale industrial, logistics, or commercial development projects.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts (NEC, JCT) and cost management processes.
  • Excellent client-facing and stakeholder management skills with a commercial mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and work independently when required.
  • Strong leadership and mentoring capabilities.
  • Proficient in cost management software and Microsoft Office Suite.
