Job description

Due to significant company growth, a national contractor requires an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team on a permanent basis.

The contractor’s recent success has resulted in a strong pipeline of exciting, high-value projects and further opportunities and incentives for new and existing staff.

The organisation boasts a wide range of projects and clients across a range of sectors including: Education, Renewables, Healthcare, Retail & Commercial. A great deal of focus is put on developing its employees with the aim of progressing their knowledge, skillset and career. The majority of senior management within the business is a good example of this.

Main responsibilities & duties:

  • Valuation of project works in line with method of measurement, primarily NEC and SSM7
  • Reviewing/validating tender cost plans and takeoffs
  • Liaising with Site Managers, clients, contractors, and subcontractors, throughout projects to ensure the best commercial result whilst maintaining relationships
  • Preparing month-end reports for Commercial Manager
  • Tracking cost plans and program delivery
  • Assisting in material procurement and specification compliance
  • Identifying and documenting any changes in design and updating budgets
  • Establishing and maintaining professional relationships with external and internal stakeholders
  • Record productivity, including incentivisation schemes
  • Recognise contractual responsibilities
  • Ensuring your site teams deliver the commercial strategy

Application requirements:

  • Minimum HND in Quantity Surveying, engineering, management, or similar
  • Experience as a mid or senior level QS
  • An understanding of Causeway Estimating Systems is advantageous
  • Sound knowledge of Excel
  • Understanding of Microsoft Project advantageous
  • Excellent negotiating and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to organise, plan, and strategize
  • A valid driver's license
