Youth Options works with children and young people across Southampton and west Hampshire. We

We focus our work on three key areas:

Prevention: supporting children and young people to engage positively with their friends, family and

local community, particularly in areas of need through street-based and centre-based youth work.

Targeted action: one to one and group support focusing on achieving positive outcomes including

engagement children and young people in nature-based, outdoor learning.

Progression opportunities: supporting young people to take personal responsibility for their future

through gaining qualifications, volunteer placements and employability programmes


Role Description

This is a fantastic opportunity to shape and build our Community and Events fundraising.

We need a creative and enthusiastic individual to build a key audience of supporters dedicated to the

difference Youth Options makes to the lives of young people.

No two days will be the same, from support a fundraiser to reach their fundraising target to planning our

annual fundraising events, presenting to local community groups to running a stall at the local carnival. You will have the opportunity to engage with the local community, build a network of fundraisers, run your own events and challenges and, most importantly, help those who need support now more than ever.


Contract Type: Permanent

Location: Eastleigh/hybrid with some

travel across Hampshire

Hours: Part or Full-time considered (Evening and occasional weekend working will be required)

Reports to: Head of Fundraising and Communications

Starting Salary: £25,740- £28,275


Responsibilities

Fundraising:

  • Raise income to support our fundraising strategy
  • Research, recruit and support individuals to raise funds through their own fundraising events, challenges and competitions
  • Design and run fundraising opportunities
  • Motivate and encourage supporters to maximise income
  • Ensure all funds are collected

Community Engagement:

  • Build up a dedicated supporter base to support Youth Options’ community programmes through events and networking.
  • Develop our Community Champion Scheme
  • Research local organisations and present our work to them to create lasting relationships.


Person Specification

Experience:

  • Working in a similar events or fundraising role
  • Planning and running events
  • Working with people and building up relationships across different audiences

Knowledge:

  • Funding and charitable sectors
  • Researching, attending and running events
  • Proven track record of developing and managing donor relationships
  • Aware of opportunities in the local area
  • Computer literate in MS Office
  • Experience of using online fundraising platforms specifically Just Giving

Essential Skills and Competencies:

  • Outstanding organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Outstanding communication skills
  • Outstanding networker capable of developing relationships
  • Able to plan, prioritise and manage a varied workload
  • Ability to work well under pressure and to deadlines
