Conference Producer – Energy Sector


About the Role


This is an exciting opportunity to join a passionate, dynamic, and creative global events team, working in one of the most important and fast-growing sectors – Africa’s power and energy industry. You will collaborate closely with senior leadership to conceptualise, produce, and deliver a portfolio of world-class events.


The successful candidate will have the chance to take ownership of flagship international forums as well as in-country events, leading cross-functional project teams and ensuring both commercial success and exceptional delegate experience.


Key Responsibilities


  • Manage and lead a portfolio of events focused on Africa’s energy sector.
  • Take a central role in producing and delivering a large-scale flagship energy forum.
  • Lead the development and delivery of regional in-country events.
  • Guide and manage project teams (sales, marketing, delegate acquisition) to ensure event success.
  • Conduct in-depth market and industry research to build strong, topical agendas.
  • Identify new opportunities and topics aligned with global and regional energy trends.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with senior stakeholders, government representatives, sponsors, and advisory boards.
  • Work with senior leadership to shape the long-term strategy for events.
  • Oversee event budgets and ensure profitability.
  • Lead marketing, sponsorship, and sales teams to achieve commercial goals.
  • Write promotional and editorial content to support event visibility.
  • Deliver outstanding onsite event management, including speaker, delegate, and logistics coordination.


Requirements


  • Proven experience as a conference producer or in a role with transferable skills in events, research, or project management.
  • Track record of growing and owning a portfolio of events with clear commercial and content success.
  • Strong project management and organisational skills, with the ability to deliver large-scale events.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with experience engaging senior industry and government stakeholders.
  • Strategic thinker with forward-planning capability.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to communicate value propositions effectively.
  • Experience in developing new event concepts and launching them profitably.
  • Highly motivated, proactive, and results-driven.
  • Willingness and ability to travel internationally.
  • French language skills (verbal and written) are an advantage but not essential.
  • Interest in or knowledge of Africa’s energy and power sector is strongly preferred.
