Associate – Private Wealth Disputes - 4+ PQE - Location: Ideally Norwich or Ipswich based

Join our Tier 1 Legal 500 and Band 2 Chambers & Partners ranked Private Wealth Disputes team, where you’ll work on high-profile, complex matters alongside some of the most respected names in the field.
About the Team
Led by Polly Stephenson, a Band 1 Chambers-ranked partner with over 25 years of experience, our team handles a wide range of challenging and high-value disputes. From multi-jurisdictional estate issues to Court of Appeal cases, we’re known for delivering exceptional results for our clients. You’ll be joining a close-knit, high-performing team that includes senior associate Gino Ballestracci (an accredited mediator and “Associate to Watch”), junior solicitors and paralegals.
What You’ll Be Doing
You’ll play a key role in advising on a broad spectrum of private wealth disputes, including:
- Will validity challenges
- Contentious estate and trust administration
- Inheritance Act claims
- Executor/trustee removal actions
- Proprietary estoppel and TOLATA claims
Your role will include:
- Managing your own caseload and supporting colleagues
- Drafting detailed technical legal documents, reports, deeds, settlement agreements and correspondence
- Liaising with clients, counsel, experts and courts
- Attending court hearings and mediations
- Conducting legal research and staying up to date with developments, attending seminars and webinars
- Supporting trainees and paralegals
- Building meaningful relationships with peers within our practice area, including Chancery barristers
- Assisting the team in developing its knowledge and reputation by internal and external marketing including for use on the firm’s social media platforms and website
- Preparing articles and case studies, as well as attending and hosting events
You’ll manage your own caseload, support colleagues, attend court hearings and mediations and contribute to the team’s knowledge and business development efforts. This is a fantastic opportunity to build strong client relationships, develop your expertise and make a real impact.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from forward thinking Associates or CILEx-qualified lawyers with 4+ years’ PQE who are:
- Passionate about private wealth disputes
- Skilled in managing complex caseloads
- Confident communicators with a client-first mindset
- Eager to grow, learn and support others
- Proactive in business development and networking
Your Knowledge, Skills and Experience
- At least four years’ post qualification experience
- Strong knowledge of contentious probate and trusts
- Familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules
- Excellent legal, analytical and organisational skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills
- Ability to work effectively within a sometimes pressurised environment
- A collaborative, highly motivated and “can-do” work style
- Ability to use discretion with a positive and enthusiastic approach to teamwork
- A genuine interest in and commitment to business development
