Head of Operations in London Area

Claimer is looking for an Head of Operations in London Area

Job description

** Head of Ops/Chief Operating Offer/Chief of Staff role. Career maker.**

Claimer is looking for a talented startup operator/second in command to the CEO, to help run and scale the business in our next phase of growth.

About Claimer

We’re an AI-native product that augments corp tax advisors/tax specialists in their processes.

We’re in stealth on a major customer-led pivot (involving a new brand and product, market size goes up 40x), to be launched soon, leading to significant scaling in the following 6 months.

We’ve spent 6 years and 2 major pivots to get here, and we’re now at a tipping point in terms of product/market fit with the customer engagement and traction to prove it. We’re working closely with enterprise design partners to ensure what we’re building works very well, then another 60+ existing customers waiting to buy what we’ve developed (each with ACV representing 50-100% our current ARR). The wider market opportunity ($100m+) is the corporate tax advisory/professional services market in the UK, US, and beyond.

The team is remote-first/hybrid, but is tight-knit with a huge level of built-up trust, which enables us to move quickly without any personnel drama and politics.

The Role

This role is suitable for a Head of Ops/COO/CoS that wants to get into the ground floor as we scale super quickly next year, and has the energy for that (as it won’t be relaxing, but this is a career maker). This preferably means startup experience in fintech, and someone that has made a load of mistakes and can help us not make the same ones, and frankly can get sh*t done, quickly identifying the correct area of focus at any given time.

Key skills/responsibilities:

You will work alongside the CEO to manage the business day to day.

  • Self-assured/confident in their own abilities, safe pair of hands, self-starter. The business should be comfortable to put this person in front of reps from large enterprise customers and investors without supervision.
  • KPI driven with a knack for quickly identifying the bottleneck in company processes and eliminating it and/or systemising a necessary process to make it repeatable.
  • Sufficiently technical to do their job, e.g. Able to work out how to put together automated dashboards. Comfortable with using AI to help them get things done.
  • IQ: knowing what they need to know vs not need to know within the domain. Able to gain sufficient knowledge of product but knowing they don’t need to be a developer, and when they just need to delegate or hire someone else.
  • CEO second in command: Could run the company if the CEO was out of action for a month. Banging the daily/weekly/monthly/quarterly drum, and keeping people on track. This includes being empowered to offset me/my cofounder shiny object syndrome. Realistic, pragmatic, getting things back to progress/goal orientated discussion without being obnoxious (i.e. EQ). “These ideas are great. But what part of that can we implement this week to help us solve Y?”
  • Ability to plate spin on a broad range of variable length-running threads without losing their mind. Aware of the details within the company - the fires we’re letting burn vs those we need to fix

Example areas of responsibility: Strategic planning with founders, Customer Support, Metrics & Reporting/Investor relations, Compliance, People Ops, Supplier Management, Events.

The role has access to an Executive Assistant to help with logistical/admin tasks.

Things we’re looking for

It’s a chance to grow quickly, solve problems creatively, and shape an evolving company. You should be happy to dive into diverse responsibilities with energy and enthusiasm.

  • Proven experience in an operations, chief of staff, or generalist role, ideally in a startup or fast-paced environment.
  • Strong organisational and project management skills, with the ability to juggle multiple priorities.
  • A problem-solver who takes initiative and can run with projects independently.
  • Comfortable working with data and tools to track metrics and build reports.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g. ISO27001, GDPR) is a strong plus.
  • Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to work across teams and with external partners.

Why join us / Benefits

Working closely with a passionate team in a fast-growing SaaS startup, you’ll be able to make a huge impact to the business and our industry. Expect to do hard work, autonomy, rapid learning, and exposure to various aspects of the business.

  • Career making founding team member joining at the tipping point of scale, with generous share options.
  • Work closely with the founders and gain exposure to all areas of building and scaling a startup.
  • Remote-first role, will need to come into the office a few times per year. Healthy trust based culture with extremely low churn.
  • Powerful Macbook + the set up you need to do your job well
  • London a few times per year for on-site meetings/team away days
  • £60-100k depending on experience, pension contribution
  • 36 days holiday (inc. BH).
