Job Title: Motor Trade Underwriter

Location: Maidstone or Croydon

Job Type: Full-Time

Salary: £40,000

Job Purpose:

To assess, price, and underwrite motor trade insurance policies in line with company guidelines and risk appetite, ensuring profitability and compliance with regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Evaluate new and renewal motor trade insurance applications.
• Analyse risk information and determine appropriate terms, premiums, and coverage.
• Build and maintain strong broker and client relationships.
• Monitor the performance of your portfolio to ensure profitability.
• Ensure underwriting decisions comply with regulatory and company standards.
• Support the development of underwriting guidelines and product improvements.
• Assist with training and mentoring junior underwriters, if required.

Key Skills & Experience:

• Previous experience in motor trade or commercial motor insurance underwriting.
• Strong understanding of motor trade risks (e.g., road risk, combined policies).
• Good analytical and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and negotiation abilities.
• IT proficient, with experience using underwriting platforms and Microsoft Office.
