Our client is a world class scripted TV production company based in London.
They wish to hire a scripted TV lawyer to join this stellar creative business as part of the Legal & Business Affairs team, on a 6-month contract initially.
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the heart of premium drama development and production, providing legal and business affairs support across a slate of bold, globally focused television projects.
Role Overview
Reporting to the Commercial and Legal Director and working closely with development, production, finance teams, and external partners, you will play a key role in supporting the legal and business affairs functions across all programming.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide legal and business affairs support to development teams, including negotiation and drafting of book option agreements, writer agreements, and broadcaster development contracts
- Advise on guild and union matters, drafting relevant talent and crew agreements where applicable
- Assist in negotiating and drafting agreements for broadcaster deals, co-productions, and other programming-related contracts
- Deliver day-to-day legal production support on assigned titles, including advising on legal templates, drafting bespoke production agreements, and managing third-party rights contracts
- Contribute to best-practice legal protocols and documentation to ensure compliance and consistency
- Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and external production partners
- Monitor legal and industry developments, updating internal teams as necessary
- Work alongside the Commercial and Legal Director to ensure efficient legal processes, compliance, and the safeguarding of commercial interests
- Qualified solicitor with substantial experience in a scripted television environment
- Strong knowledge of legal principles applicable to high-end scripted television, including IP and talent rights
- Adaptable and eager to develop new skills in a fast-moving production landscape
- A team player with a passion for scripted television and an interest in supporting creative excellence through robust legal frameworks
