Job description

Venn Group are working with a Local Authority to recruit an ERP Procurement Lead, to manage and deliver all procurement activity required to support the successful implementation of the council’s chosen ERP.


The ERP Procurement Lead will develop procurement strategies, draft specifications and tender documentation, run compliant procurement exercises, evaluate bids and lead contract negotiations and award process.


It is essential to have worked in local or central government - applications without this experience will not be considered.


  • Contract Length: 6 months initially
  • Rate: £600 per day
  • IR35 Status: Outside IR35
  • Location: Hybrid - London


Responsibilities:

  • Lead all procurement activities required to support the ERP Programme, ensuring alignment with programme plans, timelines and strategic objectives
  • Provide expert commercial advice to programme leadership, project teams and stakeholders on procurement routes, risk management and supplier engagement
  • Draft and negotiate contracts, ensuring terms and conditions are robust, compliant and tailored to the needs of the ERP Programme
  • Ensure all procurement activity is auditable and compliant, maintaining accurate records and following governance processes throughout
  • Collaborate with legal, finance and procurement colleagues to ensure consistency, compliance and alignment with wider council framework and strategies


Essential experience:

  • Experience leading complex procurement activity within a large scale programme within Local Government
  • Leading procurement planning across multi-year programmes, effectively coordinating multiple concurrent procurements with interdependencies
  • Analysing commercial risk, assessing procurement options and making sound decisions that balance compliance, delivery risk and strategic outcomes
  • Managing end to end procurement lifecycle including market engagement, specification development, tendering, evaluation, contract award and mobilisation
