About the Role



Caerphilly County Borough Council is looking for two qualified Social Workers to join the Children’s Services – Family and Friends Team. This role will focus on providing assessment, safeguarding, and care management support to children and families, ensuring their needs are met in line with statutory duties and best practice. Social Workers will also contribute to service development, work closely with partner agencies, and manage their own caseloads with supervision and support.



Responsibilities



  • Undertake high-quality assessments, care management, and safeguarding interventions.
  • Develop, review, and implement outcome-focused plans for children and families.
  • Maintain accurate case recording and comply with statutory frameworks.
  • Work collaboratively with education, health, police, and partner agencies.
  • Represent the Council in court proceedings and contribute to panel meetings.
  • Support recruitment, assessment, and supervision of foster carers where required.
  • Promote the welfare of children and ensure risks are effectively managed.


Qualifications



  • Essential
  • Degree/Diploma in Social Work (or equivalent).
  • Registered with

    Social Care Wales

    .
  • Eligible to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced DBS.
  • Minimum 5 years’ references/work history.
  • Valid UK driving licence and business-use car insurance.
  • Strong case management, assessment, and safeguarding knowledge.
  • Excellent communication, report writing, and IT skills.
  • Desirable
  • Post-qualifying awards (e.g. Enabling Practice).
  • Welsh language skills.
  • Experience with care proceedings and fostering services.

  • Pay range and compensation package



    • PAYE: £30.50 per hour
    • Umbrella/Ltd: £38.89 per hour
