My client is a leading UK law firm with offices spanning across most of the larger cities in the UK, are looking to hire an Employee Relations Specialist to join their wider HR team on a 6 month contract basis.


The Employee Relations Specialist will support the woder HR team in developing and maintaining a trusting environment for employees, where they can achieve excellence. Advising and guiding HRBPs and stakeholders across the business on a broad range of employee relations matters.


The key duties will include:


  • Manage complex ER issues, such as performance, capability, employee grievances, disciplinaries, flexible working, absence, discrimination issues and workplace concerns.
  • Ensure that ER investigations are conducted thoroughly and fairly whilst supporting and coaching Partners and line managers on appropriate behaviours and process.
  • Supporting the HRBPs drive organisational performance by advising on employee success plans (performance management) and creating clear, realistic and measurable objectives
  • Proactively maintain and apply current knowledge of UK employment law communicating to the HR Director and wider business where appropriate any upcoming changes and new policy developments.
  • Work closely with our HR and Quality and Risk colleagues on the application of SRA rules, regulatory investigations and the design and maintenance of processes to support our regulatory obligations.
  • Tracking ER activity against metrics, supporting and advising on themes and putting forward recommendations.
  • Continuously improve, update and interpret HR Policies, processes, letter templates, including HR Practice Notes and Line Manager Guidance notes, ensuring they are accurate, compliant with SRA regulations, and up to date with UK legislation changes.
  • Provide support on any organisation change initiatives including restructures, redundancies, business transfers (TUPE), changes to terms and conditions of employment, etc.
  • Participation in key People / ER related projects as appropriate.


The Employee Relations Specialist will have extensive HR experience gained within a financial or professional services environment, at Specialist level. They will have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and communicate using various platforms. You will have resilience and be able to advise at senior level, manage complex and sensitive matters and advise on best practice.
