Financial Controller in Lancashire

Harrison Davies Partners are currently recruiting exclusively for a Group Financial Controller for a Lancashire based listed business going through an extensive period of change.

Responsibilities of the role include:

• Oversee daily accounting operations, including AP, AR, payroll, and general ledger.
• Streamline the month-end close process through standardisation, automation, and data accuracy improvements.
• Ensure accurate and timely financial statements in compliance with UK GAAP & IFRS.
• Manage inventory and costing, ensuring correct valuation and reporting.
• Conduct variance analysis and deliver insights on performance and key drivers.
• Develop and implement robust internal controls to safeguard financial integrity.
• Monitor cash flow, budgeting, and forecasting to support decision-making.
• Collaborate with auditors and tax advisors for statutory compliance.
• Lead, mentor, and develop a team of 3–4 accounting professionals.
• Partner with senior management on strategic initiatives and financial planning.
• Drive process improvements and automation across finance operations.

The candidate will have the following experience:

• Extensive accounting/financial management, with ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualification.
• Strong knowledge of UK GAAP & IFRS.
• Experience in inventory management and costing.
• Excellent communication skills — able to explain complex data clearly to both financial and non-financial stakeholders.
• Strong business partnering ability with General Managers and leadership teams.
