Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home
Location: Northamptonshire
Rate: Up to £15.61 per hour
Hours: Flexible agency shifts – long days & sleep-ins
About the Company
This established children’s residential home provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment for young people aged 12–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home is committed to promoting positive development, safety, and wellbeing through a compassionate, values-driven approach.
About the Role
We’re looking for motivated and experienced Senior Support Workers to cover flexible shifts within the home. You’ll lead shifts, supervise staff, and provide high-quality care for young people. The role involves supporting daily activities, education, and statutory meetings, ensuring a therapeutic and consistent approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead shifts, supervise staff, and ensure consistent, high-quality care in line with regulations
- Support young people’s daily routines, education, therapy, and personal development
- Implement care plans, risk assessments, and LAC documentation, attending statutory meetings as required
- Safeguard young people, manage challenging behaviours, and promote positive outcomes
- Build strong relationships with families, social workers, and external professionals
- Assist with household tasks, budgeting, and maintaining a safe, homely environment
- Contribute to staff induction, training, and professional development
- Complete accurate reports, records, and administrative duties
- Provide cover for management when required
Person Specification
Qualifications
- NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People Workforce (essential)
Experience
- Supporting young people aged 12–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a residential setting
- Leading shifts and supervising staff teams
- Completing reports and attending multi-agency meetings
- Experience with ASC, mental health, or complex needs (desirable)
Skills & Attributes
- Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
- Resilient, empathetic, and able to manage challenging behaviour
- Flexible, person-centred, and committed to safeguarding
- Driver preferred but not essential
