Senior Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home


Location: Northamptonshire

Rate: Up to £15.61 per hour

Hours: Flexible agency shifts – long days & sleep-ins

This established children’s residential home provides a therapeutic and nurturing environment for young people aged 12–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties. The home is committed to promoting positive development, safety, and wellbeing through a compassionate, values-driven approach.


About the Role

We’re looking for motivated and experienced Senior Support Workers to cover flexible shifts within the home. You’ll lead shifts, supervise staff, and provide high-quality care for young people. The role involves supporting daily activities, education, and statutory meetings, ensuring a therapeutic and consistent approach.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts, supervise staff, and ensure consistent, high-quality care in line with regulations
  • Support young people’s daily routines, education, therapy, and personal development
  • Implement care plans, risk assessments, and LAC documentation, attending statutory meetings as required
  • Safeguard young people, manage challenging behaviours, and promote positive outcomes
  • Build strong relationships with families, social workers, and external professionals
  • Assist with household tasks, budgeting, and maintaining a safe, homely environment
  • Contribute to staff induction, training, and professional development
  • Complete accurate reports, records, and administrative duties
  • Provide cover for management when required


Person Specification


Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or 4 in Children and Young People Workforce (essential)

Experience

  • Supporting young people aged 12–17 with emotional and behavioural difficulties in a residential setting
  • Leading shifts and supervising staff teams
  • Completing reports and attending multi-agency meetings
  • Experience with ASC, mental health, or complex needs (desirable)

  • Strong leadership, communication, and teamwork skills
  • Resilient, empathetic, and able to manage challenging behaviour
  • Flexible, person-centred, and committed to safeguarding
  • Driver preferred but not essential
