Job description

About the job

An exciting opportunity has arisen in Southampton for a qualified personal injury solicitor to work in a human-centred firm within a supportive, agile, and inclusive team handling highly complex injury cases, with a particular focus on cases involving areas including brain injury, complex orthopaedic injury, and amputations. Though solicitors with broader experience in serious injury claims will be accepted, it is essential that solicitors have prior experience working on high-value cases. The initial contract will be a fixed-term contract lasting twelve months, with the expectation based on performance that this will be a permanent position.

Our client’s Southampton office is home to a highly regarded Catastrophic Loss Team. They work with leading insurers and corporate clients, handling complex and high-value personal injury claims. They are seeking a skilled and motivated Solicitor or Senior Solicitor (3 - 8 years PQE) to join this supportive team in a senior capacity.

Responsibilities

  • Managing a caseload of catastrophic loss and serious injury claims, frequently with complex, multi-million-pound cases.
  • Advising clients (namely claimants) on liability, quantum, and litigation strategy.
  • Drafting documents, preparing for court, and engaging in settlement negotiations.
  • Developing and maintaining strong client relationships through excellent service delivery.
  • Staying updated on legal developments in catastrophic injury and insurance law

Essential skills

  • 3 - 8 years PQE experience in defendant catastrophic loss/injury litigation.
  • Strong background in catastrophic and/or serious injury, personal injury, large loss or complex loss claims, value ranging from £250k - £1m+.
  • Excellent knowledge of personal injury law, liability, and quantum assessment.
  • A collaborative and can-do attitude is essential.
  • Exceptional analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to build and maintain strong client relationships.
  • Commitment to delivering outstanding service and results

Our client offers a comprehensive rewards package that extends beyond a basic salary; however, the salary on offer is competitive within the market. They have a hybrid model of working. If this role is of interest, please send your CV to candidates@thesjp.co.uk
