Waking Nights Support Worker – Children’s Residential Home


Ilkeston, Derbyshire | £24,000 – £27,000 (excluding sleep-ins) | Permanent


Are you passionate about supporting children and young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD)? We are looking for Waking Nights Support Workers to join a dedicated residential team in Ilkeston.


About the role:

  • Provide overnight support to children with EBD, ensuring a safe, secure, and nurturing environment.
  • Be a calm and reassuring presence throughout the night, responding to any needs or incidents.
  • Work as part of a supportive staff team committed to trauma-informed and child-centred care.
  • Maintain accurate records and handover notes to the day team.

Requirements:

  • Experience in residential childcare, EBD, or similar support work preferred.
  • Compassionate, resilient, and reliable – able to manage challenging situations calmly.
  • Waking Nights role: driving licence not required (day staff roles do require drivers).
