FREELANCE / CONTRACT TO HIRE - Multi Hire Project - Battery Energy Storage Systems


Edison Smart Are Hiring: Engineers, Controls Experts & Technicians for UK Battery Energy Storage Projects


Edison Smart is hiring on behalf of our clients who have upcoming large-scale battery energy storage projects across the UK. As the national grid evolves, we’re seeking high-calibre professionals in the following disciplines:


1. Battery Storage Project Engineer

Lead the design, integration, and implementation of BESS infrastructure across utility, commercial, and residential scales. Oversee feasibility, grid‑connection, technical compliance (G99, HV systems), and design management. Background in electrical or mechanical engineering with utilities experience and facility in tools like ETAP/PowerFactory is required.


2. Control & Instrumentation / SCADA Engineer

Manage control logic, monitoring systems, and automation to ensure battery assets are secure, efficient, and optimised. Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI/SCADA configuration, and industrial protocols (Modbus, DNP3, OPC, etc.) is essential.


3. Battery Storage Technician / Commissioning & O&M Specialist

Execute hands-on installation, commissioning, and maintenance of BESS setups. Must hold UK electrical or mechanical qualifications (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds), ECS/CSCS site clearance, and be confident working on live systems. Strong troubleshooting and safety skills are essential.
