Climate17 is pleased to be working with a leading independent advisor specialising in heat networks across the UK. This role focuses on operational oversight, technical quality assurance, and driving performance excellence for heat networks in the social housing and housing-provider sector.


Role Overview

As a Technical Heat Network Consultant, you’ll lead the improvement of performance, compliance, and decarbonisation across communal and district heating schemes. You’ll manage site investigations, deliver high-quality technical reports and recommendations, and play a central role in driving efficiency, customer satisfaction, and carbon reduction.


Key Responsibilities

Technical Delivery

  • Lead site surveys and investigations in line with CIBSE CP1, including optimisation, decarbonisation, asset reviews, acceptance testing, and metering feasibility.
  • Engage with clients, contractors, and residents during site visits, ensuring accurate data capture and compliance with safety standards.


Reporting & Analysis

  • Take ownership of the technical quality of reports, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Deliver techno-economic analysis, operational reviews, and performance insights.
  • Translate complex data into clear, actionable recommendations.


Operational & Compliance

  • Oversee operational reports, audits, and tariff-setting reviews.
  • Support providers with compliance, regulatory requirements, and governance improvements.
  • Recommend measures to strengthen efficiency, resilience, and customer outcomes.


Client & Project Management

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Manage projects to time and budget, delivering above expectations.
  • Represent the consultancy at meetings, industry events, and forums.


Business Development & Innovation

  • Identify opportunities to expand and enhance technical services.
  • Contribute to proposals, case studies, and thought leadership.
  • Stay ahead of emerging technologies and regulatory changes.


Essential Qualifications & Experience

  • 6+ years’ operational experience in the heat network sector (e.g. Social housing, district-wide heat schemes).
  • Proven accountability for technical quality in reports, conclusions, and recommendations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of design, optimisation, operation, and decarbonisation.
  • Experience across new and existing networks of varied scale, technology, and age.
  • Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills.
  • Qualifications:
  • • Level 7 qualification, or
  • • Level 11 in an engineering discipline, or
  • • Chartered Engineer status.
