About the Role

A leading consultancy is seeking a Chartered Building Surveyor (post-ATC) to join its Oxford team. This role is ideally suited to a surveyor with proven experience in the education sector, including conservation projects, laboratory design, and building refitting works.


The successful candidate will provide high-quality professional and project management services, supporting the delivery of both refurbishment and new-build schemes for universities, schools, and research institutions across Oxfordshire and beyond.


Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake surveys, condition reports, defect analysis, and reinstatement cost assessments on education estate buildings.
  • Deliver professional services including dilapidations, party wall matters, and landlord & tenant advice.
  • Provide project management services on refurbishment, conservation, and laboratory fit-out/refit projects.
  • Prepare specifications, schedules of work, and tender documentation tailored to educational environments.
  • Administer contracts and act as Employer’s Agent where required.
  • Liaise with clients, academic stakeholders, contractors, and design teams to deliver projects on time, within budget, and to required quality standards.
  • Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations, sector-specific requirements, and conservation best practice.
  • Mentor and support junior surveyors and graduates.


Required Qualifications & Experience

  • MRICS Chartered Building Surveyor, post-ATC qualification (essential).
  • Degree in Building Surveying or a related field.
  • Demonstrable experience working within the education sector, including conservation and heritage projects, laboratory design, fitting, and refitting, and refurbishment of academic and research facilities.
  • Strong knowledge of building pathology, construction methods, and relevant legislation.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with client-facing confidence.
  • Proficiency with relevant software (AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office).
  • Full UK driving licence.
