Head of Environmental and Sustainability in North West

Job description

Head of Environment and Sustainability will help to develop, implement, and manage the organisation's sustainability strategy and initiatives, including environmental policies, resource management, and compliance with regulations. Key responsibilities involve conducting a gap analysis, managing sustainability metrics and reporting, creating sustainability culture, and collaborating with stakeholders to minimise environmental impact and achieve water business and Group goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Development:

Develop and execute a comprehensive sustainability strategy aligned with the organisation's values and strategic objectives.

• Policy Implementation:

Create and implement environmental policies and practices to embed sustainable and environmental friendly working practices .

• Compliance & Reporting:

Ensure compliance with environmental regulations, conduct audits, and prepare detailed reports on sustainability performance for internal and external stakeholders.

• Stakeholder Engagement:

Collaborate with internal teams, external partners, and regulatory bodies to promote sustainability initiatives and build strong relationships.

• Data & Metrics:

Monitor, analyse, carbon data and report on key sustainability metrics, such as energy consumption, waste generation, and carbon footprints.

• Carbon reporting

Lead the implementation of the carbon accounting system to allow scope 1,2 and 3 data to be provided to the business to allow data driven decisions to be made in particular science based targets

• Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate environmental risks and assess the impact of business activities on the environment.

• Awareness & Training:

Lead environmental awareness programs for employees to foster a culture of sustainability.

• Innovation:

Research and implement new technologies, practices, and strategies to enhance the organization's sustainability performance.
