This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious Head of Conveyancing for our Davisons Law Cotteridge office to join a supportive team and gain hands-on experience in property transactions.


What you’ll do


When you join the team with Davisons Law as a Head of Conveyancing - Cotteridge office, you will manage a small case load in all aspects of residential conveyancing transactions; handling sales, purchases, Deeds of Variation, remortgages, and transfers of equity, right to buy, shared ownership schemes, lease extensions ensuring transactions progress smoothly and efficiently.


You will lead and manage the conveyancing department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, efficient, and compliant property transaction services. The Head of Conveyancing will drive business growth, maintain strong client relationships, oversee compliance and risk management, and develop the team’s skills and capabilities.


You will have a relevant qualification (i.e. Solicitor, CILEx, CLC) or have experience of managing your own caseload.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Minium 3 years PQE.
  • Lead, manage, and motivate the conveyancing team to achieve departmental and organisational goals.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of residential property transactions, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance.
  • Adopt and implement conveyancing policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of property law, conveyancing regulations, and market trends.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, regulatory bodies, and industry standards.
  • Monitor performance metrics and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Oversee risk management and ensure proper handling of client funds.
  • Lead business development initiatives within conveyancing services.
  • Coordinate with other departments to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Manage budgets, staffing, and resources for the conveyancing department.
  • Provide regular reports to senior management on conveyancing activity, risks, and opportunities.
  • Develop and maintain strong professional working relationships with new and existing clients, estate agents and lenders.
  • Manage own work allocation must have proven track record as a Residential Property Solicitor /Conveyancer Fee Earner
  • Process cases on a timely and cost-effective basis.
  • Strong organisational skillset, IT literate and experience of using web-based case management systems.
  • Be commercially astute, understanding the importance of business targets and their impact to the practice, generating a fee income in line with agreed targets.
  • Supporting/development assistants and paralegals
  • Work on freehold, leasehold, and shared ownership properties.
  • Experience of handling client enquiries both face to face, remotely and by telephone.
