HR Advisor | Location: Cambridge | Contract: 2-Year Fixed Term Contract (FTC) | £35,000 - £40,000
We’re working with a global leader in innovative drug discovery and development, based in the heart of Cambridge’s biotechnology hub, to recruit a HR Advisor. This is an exciting opportunity to join a collaborative and inclusive HR team, playing a hands-on role across the full employee lifecycle and supporting wider people initiatives.
As HR Advisor, you’ll act as the first point of contact for employees and managers, providing advice and support across payroll, benefits, and HR operations. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you’ll also have the chance to be involved in projects including the roll-out of a new HRIS in 2026, recruitment campaigns, L&D, and policy updates.

This role also offers hybrid working and you’ll be needed onsite 3 days per week.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Managing payroll preparation and ensuring compliance with HMRC and statutory requirements
- Acting as first-line support for HR queries via the HR inbox
- Administering employee benefits and HR systems, ensuring accuracy and compliance
- Supporting recruitment processes and right-to-work/visa compliance
- Coordinating learning & development activities and maintaining training records
- Managing onboarding, probation, contractual changes, leavers, and HR records
- Contributing to HR projects and initiatives aligned to business strategy
Essential experience:
- Strong knowledge of UK employment law
- Proficiency with HR systems and data management
- Payroll
- Excellent communication skills and ability to build trust at all levels
- A solutions-focused, pragmatic approach with strong organisational skills
